New Development Technologies cc was started in 2007 by Chavoux Luyt as a R&D company. The main focus was on customized software solutions in different fields with an emphasis on Agricultural and Environmental applications. However, this ended up with me simply working as a consulting software developer in practice.
Later I started the Farming with Predators research project on human-predator conflict on Namibian farmlands in collaboration with the Cheetah Conservation Fund near Otjiwarongo and later Naankuse near Windhoek in Namibia. As a result of the PhD, I learned a lot about the different aspects of human-wildlife conflict between livestock farmers and predators. This expertise is now the main focus of New Development Wild Stewardship Solutions. New Development is a sole proprietorship consultancy to serve conservation organizations and agriculture in finding optimum, holistic and adaptive management approaches to livestock depredation, using our knowledge of both agriculture and predator behavioural ecology.
